Museum Vulcanology

This museum which is located still in Kintamani tourist object was officially established by the Minister of Energy and Mining Resources, Mr. Purnomo Yusgiantoro on May 10, 2007 coincidently with the 803rd Anniversary of Bangli Regency. Kintamani as a special interest tourist destination would be more attractive since besides being place of interesting in Kintamani, closed related to volcano-logy, this museum has a function to maintain and protect the natural resources & culture (preservation & conservation), developing knowledge about the object would be displayed (information), as a institution which is collecting valued things and center of documentation (collection), managing the knowledge for public & center of culture appreciation (education).

This museum has some facilities such as meeting room for the scientist, collection room which is exhibit the remain of Mt. Batur eruption & also games which tells the story of volcano’s eruption. Besides, on the third floor there is a real time camera & telescope to supervise and control the condition of Mt. Agung and Batur which are still active until present. In this museum there is also diorama of Mt. Batur eruption which describe the reconstruction f lava flow and people’s panic in the year of 1926 which is destroyed Batur village. The duration is about twenty minutes. Referring to all these mentioned facilities, hopefully this museum could be the new landmark of Kintamani besides its mount and lake Batur.
