Discover northern Sumatra scenic beauty, learn its historical sites from the artifacts on display at the state owned museum, take a close look Orangutan in its own habitat, enjoy trekking and river rafting amidst the unspoiled and fascinating jungle, countryside drive thru villages and lush plantation of rubber and oil palm, picnic lunch at the scenic point, and overnight at eco lodges on the jungle’s edge.

Day 1   MEDAN/ BOHOROK/ BUKIT LAWANG (LD)
Morning arrival in Medan’ airport (not later than 10 AM), met by your local tour guide and proceed with Medan City sightseeing takes you to see the Great Mosque, Sultan’s Palace, local market, Museum Negara for its interesting collection of archeological and ethnographic artifacts of Batak and Malay tribes. Lunch will be at a local restaurant enroute. After lunch, take a drive thru vast rubber and oil palm plantation to Bukit Lawang; the Orang utan rehabilitation center, established in 1973.  Arriving in Bukit Lawang, cross the river on a hanging cable plank bridge to your accommodation.  Dinner will be provided.
Note: For a later arrival in Medan the tour will be adjust according to your arrival time, some visits may have to be skipped from the itinerary to avoid evening arrival in Bukit Lawang.
 
Day 2   BUKIT LAWANG (BLD)
After an early breakfast, walking on a rocky path leads to a bend in the river crossing by a cable and pulley driven dug out canoe to reach the station of Orang Utan Care Center. A quite steep trail through the forest leads to a feeding platform where the orangutans are fed there twice daily ration of bananas and milk. Enjoy observing orangutan at the feeding site. Then, return on the same track to the hotel for a brief rest before continuing drive to Marike, the starting point of Wampu river rafting experience, about 4 hours down on the Wampu river floating a fascinating adventure with many grade 2 rapids on a wide jungle river in the midst of an unspoiled impressive rainforest with chance to see and hear the tropical wildlife. Half way we will make a stop at a waterfall where you can take a fresh shower and lunch in the open air. Then, continue rafting for another hour down to the bridge of the Bohorok River for pick up point. Lunch is served enroute. Drive back to hotel for overnight with dinner
 
Don’t Forget: Camera  with extra film and binoculars, Light clothes (including long trousers & long sleeved shirt), comfortable sturdy walking shoes, leach socks and rain poncho, Any personal medication that you might consume regularly, Insect repellent for those who are particularly sensitive to bug bites, An unbreakable water bottle, A photocopy of your passport.

 
Day 3   BUKIT LAWANG/ TANGKAHAN (BLD)
After breakfast, depart for Tangkahan, about 3 hours driving off-road by non AC local vehicle to Tangkahan passing several small villages with some countryside landscape of rubber and oil palm plantations line either side of the highway interrupted by low roofed local houses on high post to Tangkahan Rainforest, another entrance to Gunung Leuser National Park. Sometimes the track is up and down, which makes the trip become unforgettable. Simple lunch is provided enroute. Reach Tangkahan Lodge by crossing the river with a canoe. Enjoy the afternoon riding an elephant through the jungle crossing the river. Overnight stay and dinner at a simple jungle lodge of Tangkahan.
Elephants are not available neither for riding nor trekking on Mondays & Thursdays due to do forest patrol

Day 4   TANGKAHAN/ MEDAN/ BERASTAGI (BLD)
After breakfast is another chance to watch the elephant bathing. Then, drive southward through villages and magnificent landscape bring you back to Medan. En-route stop at the Crocodile famr; being the largest in Indonesia with some 1,000 reptiles of different sizes that are carefully segregated to prevent from getting gobbled up by the elder siblings in open pens, where they are seemly packed in like sardines. After lunch, proceed the drive on the forested foothills of the Bukit Barisan where s-turns provides panoramic view to the picturesque town of Berastagi, and further through the Nature Reserved of Sibolangit lies on an escarpment overlooking the lowlands, and a stop will be made at the local market for wonderfully fresh fruits, flowers & vegetables. Accommodation and dinner will be at the hotel in Berastagi.
 
Day 5   BERASTAGI (BLD)
Early morning drive to the slope of Mount Sibayak, then proceed hiking on a rocky track leads over a saddle in the east west ridge and rises up through foothills blanketed by morning mist to the summit reaching in a 3 hours' hike. Your chance to watch the beautiful sunrise (weather allows) and a blue green sulphur lake at the bottom of the crater bubbling menacingly. After daylight, descend gently on trail passes through thick jungle down some very steep slopes, which quite wet & slippery in places to Lau Debuk Debuk; a hot sulphur spring to enjoy a well earned soak in the steaming sulphur laden water. Return to the hotel for a brief rest. Then, driving around this verdant plateau, which is as Northern Sumatera's green grocer exploring farming area watching farmers cultivating market gardens, the Lingga Village for a glimpse of the way of life of the Karo Batak Tribe and their typical houses with open floor plan in which eight related families live together under a single upswept or rectangular roof of “ijuk” thatch interspersed with more modern ones. Afterwards, proceed upward to Taman Simalem Resort, which is located on the hills of north-western part of Toba basin to enjoy a gazebo, which provides panoramic view over the village at the Lake’s edge. At the appropriate time return to Berastagi for accommodation and gala dinner. For visit to Lau Debuk Debuk  you may need to bring small kit of miscellaneous toiletry items such as soap, shampoo, towel, etc.
 
Day 6   BERASTAGI/ MEDAN AIRPORT(B)
Breakfast at the hotel. At the appropriate time drive on the same road down to go back to Medan. Upon arrival in Medan, transfer to the airport to catch the flight of onward destination.
Note : The departure flight should be later than 11.30
 
Fact about the accommodation used
-          Rindu Alam Hotel and Bukit Lawang Cottage are the only recommended non starred hotels and being a fine fanned standard room with basic facilities & private bath, overlook to the river and surrounded with dense vegetation. It's located in the bank of the secondary forest, which is close to the border of a part of Gunung Leuser National Park. Although there is a healthy fear of man, some animals (macaques, insects and others are all around) can be a nuisance. Power failures are common and voltage can fluctuate considerably as it is still run with generator, which is normally last for 6 hours only. It starts powering at 18.00 & finishes at 24.00.
-          Tangkahan provides natural designed accommodation with standard rooms with private bathrooms, non-starred. Due to limited number of rooms, Tangkahan Lodge could comfortable accommodate until 20 paxs. Power failures are common and voltage can fluctuate considerably as it is still run with generator, which normally last for 6 hours only. It starts powering at 18.00 & finishes at 24.00.     
-          Berastagi will be based on Sibayak Hotel (4*- ROH) or Sinabung Hotel (4*-ROH)
