Upon arrival at Hasanuddin airport of Makassar, met by your local tour guide and transferred by private car to Tumpa Bulu village, passing through Bugisnese area with their distinctive stilt houses and magnificent landscape with splendid mountain scenery. Visit to Bantimurung waterfall before having lunch at a local restaurant. Afternoon arrive at Tumba Bulo village, overnight at villager’s house

 

After breakfast, full day hiking to see village life, meet and interact with the local in their activities like palm sugar making, processing of taking honey from the tress (if in season), rice planting and etc. We will also walk to the nearby forest to learn of the local flora and on lucky encounter exotic birds and rare animals in the wild. This village located on the height with magnificent view of surrounding rainforest and limestone hills. Lunch and dinner provided.

 

After breakfast, we set out for Toraja via Pare-Pare, driving along the west coast offers view of the coastal area, fishing villages, and terraced rice fields. Stop for lunch in Pare-Pare, late afternoon arrive in Toraja, check-in Hotel, dinner and overnight.

 

After breakfast, visit the fascinating villages of Tana Toraja with the unique Tongkonan Houses which shape like a ship bow and stern, LEMO; the cliff graves, SUAYA; royal stone graves of the seventh king, SANGGALA; baby graves on the tree, LONDA; an ancient grave with effigies on the balcony representing the dead, KETEKESU; traditional Toraja village. Lunch at a local restaurant is included. Overnight at Hotel with dinner included.

 

After breakfast, we will be dropped at Tondok Litak being the start point of trek exploring northern Toraja hidden beauty. About 4-6 hours walk each day, trekking up and down the hill inland through village back roads, rice terraces, old houses, coffee and cacao plantation, old graves etc. You will admire the stunning beauty of Toraja’s nature, and your chances also see the real life of the local how they pick palm wine from palm tree, pounding rice, drying coffee and else.  Overnight will be at the local’s house

Day 7   RAFTING ON MAULU RIVER/ TORAJA (BLD)

After breakfast, light trek to the river; the start point of the rafting. Short briefing by experienced guide and gear up with safety equipments for an adrenalin pump experience, 3 – 4 hours rafting with variation of class II to III rapids and calm water canyons where cool refreshing waterfalls fill the warm air with cooling mist. Lunch and drinking water provided. Afterwards, driven back to hotel

 

After breakfast, proceed to Ujung Pandang, lunch at Bukit Indah restaurant in Pare-Pare. After lunch, continue driving to the airport for next destination.

Note: Toraja Land is situated in the highland with more rain possibility; therefore the favorable time touring the area would be during dry season, April – October. Traveling during the month of June there usually more chances to see funeral ceremony as people just finished from harvesting their farms when they usually have more funds to do the ceremony
