Explore with a houseboat on the mighty Mahakam River to see on own closely the life of the native Dayak people. Travel through the dense rainforest, trek in the jungle to see the rare Black Orchid, visit the local market and learn about the Dayak communal life in the longhouse, and see the priceless collection of the Sultan from Kutai kingdom.

Detailed Itinerary
D-1      ARRIVE IN BALIKPAPAN – LOA JANAN (L, D)
Arrival in Balikpapan by a morning flight, met by your local tour guide, assisted and then transferred to a local restaurant for your lunch. After lunch continue drive to Loa Janan boat dock from where the excursion will start with a houseboat touring the Mahakam River for experience wildlife of the Dayak country. Overnight onboard with dinner.
 
D-2      MUARA MUNTAI/ MANCONG (B, L, D) 
Reaches Muara Muntai in the morning, breakfast is served on the boat and then sightseeing around the village to see the local in their daily activities. Then, on motorized canoe across the vast Jempang Lake for homeland of Dayak Benuaq. On arrival at Mancong enjoy welcome dance of Dayak Benuaq tribe. Proceed to see the impressive grand longhouse which traditionally called Lamin Mancong. Return to the houseboat and to continue cruising Mahakam River up to Melak. Stay overnight on the boat with dinner
 
Day 3,  MELAK/ KERSIK LUWEY (B, L, D) 
This morning arrives in Melak, short visit to the local traditional market before continuing drive to Eheng to see the long house of Dayak Tunjung where people more than hundred still living together in one big long house. The house is interesting to see as adorned with intricate form or Dayak ornamental arts. People make their living by making handicraft from rattan and statues. Then, drive further to Kersik Luwey to search in the wild black orchid, sightings the flowers are not guaranteed, it will be by luck. This species is very rare and they are not flowering all year around. Best time to see the orchid is during September to March with more chances to see the flowers. Return to the houseboat for lunch. In the afternoon explore small rivers onto Gemuruh passing through dense tropical rainforest. In late afternoon cruise down to Tenggarong. Overnight on board with dinner.
 
Day 4,  TENGGARONG/ BALIKPAPAN (B, L, D) 
Morning arrival in Tenggarong, have city sightseeing brings you to see Mulawarman Museum to enjoy seeing antique collections from Kutai Kingdom being displayed in this museum. Lunch is served onboard the boat while downstream to Loa Janan. From Loa Janan further by land to Balikpapan.  Stay overnight in Balikpapan at Le Grandeur Hotel. Dinner at hotel is included.
 
Day 5,  BALIKPAPAN/ DEPARTURE (B) 
After breakfast is free or explore on your own.
At the appropriate time transferred to the airport for your flight to the onward destination
