Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 MAKASSAR –TORAJA LAND
Arrives at Hasanuddin airport of Makassar, greet and transfer to Toraja, about 8-9 hours drive through magnificent landscape and villages of the native Bugis people with their typical houses on stilts. Stops en-route for enjoying the panoramic views and have a peek into the native house. Lunch will be at a local restaurant. Late afternoon arrive in Rantepao, is the centre of Tana Toraja regency, your base for touring Toraja distinctive culture. Toraja is situated in the highland about 800 meter from the sea surface makes the weather pleasantly cool. Overnight at hotel in Toraja with dinner. (L, D)
Day 2, TORAJA HIKING – BATUTUMONGA
Morning after breakfast trekking to Batutumonga, takes you more in-depth to the countryside to enjoy fascinating beauty of Toraja, rice terraces, fertile coffee and cacao plantation, mountain scenery, lush vegetations, and with chance to see the real life of the local. Lunch will provided as picnic lunch. Afternoon arrive in Batutumonga, stay overnight at a simple guest house. (B, L, D)
Day 3-5 TREK TO THE NORTHERN TORAJA
Explore further to the interior of Toraja, about 4-6 hours trekking each day brings you to the remote parts of Toraja. Escape far away from the tourist crowd and have an insight look to Toraja’s fascinating nature and genuine culture, walk slow down on village’s back roads and trails, through dense tropical jungle and rice fields, whilst familiarize yourself with various indigenous plant species. Overnight will be at the villager’s house to be more close with simple village life. On the 5th day the trekking end and you will then be transported back to your hotel in Toraja for overnight. Day 6 TORAJA/ MAKASSAR/ OUT
After breakfast, check-out and drive back to Makassar. Lunch will be at Bukit Indah restaurant in Pare-Pare. After lunch, continue driving to the airport for next destination. (B, L)

Note: Toraja Land is situated in the highland with more rain possibilities, therefore the favorable time touring the area would be during dry season, April to October. Travelling during the month of June there usually more chances to see funeral ceremony as people just finished from harvesting their farms when they usually have more funds to do the ceremony
