Arrival in Surabaya Airport, met and transferred to Tosari village in the lower slope of the semi-active Mt. Bromo, about two and half hours drive with fine costal and mountain scenery. Stay overnight at a cottage with nice flowering garden. The cottage is in the highland, so please prepare your warm clothes as night will be cool.

A wake-up call for early morning Bromo sunrise tour. Drive up on 4WD Jeep to Mount Penanjakan, viewing-point of the breathtaking sunrise over Mt. Bromo (weather allows). Later, drive down to caldera and then on horseback crossing the sea sand, ascending some hundreds steps to reach peak of Bromo, from where you still could see the crater inside constantly belches white sulphurous smoke. Return to hotel for breakfast, shower and a brief rest before continuing to Ketapang for touring Ijen. Reach Ketapang in the afternoon check-in at Ijen Resort and rest of the day will be free for leisurely to enjoy the resort. (B)

A tour with 4WD Jeep with early departure from the resort, passes through lush plantation and rainforest. The rainforest is one of the few that still left in the island of Java with varied tropical vegetations. A short break at the Park Ranger’s post before hiking further up to the crater. About one and half or two hours (depending on one’s interest and physical condition) is needed to ascend the rim of the crater, walking along a shady track with amazing views. Reach the crater edge at the height of about 2883 meters, enjoy observing the sulphur lake and traditional sulphur mining of men seeking the sulphur descend into the crater and climb back along the dangerous rim with load up to 80 kilos on their shoulder. The crater observation will be at leisure. Later, trek down and ride back to the resort. Enjoy little rest before transferred to Bali, on Ferry boat from Ketapang harbor of East Java to Gilimanuk harbor of Bali then onward by land to southern Bali beach resort.
