Detailed Itinerary
Day 1, MEDAN/ BERASTAGI
Upon arrival at the airport of Medan, greeting service and proceeds touring the city with visits included to Mesjid Besar or the Grand Mosque, the Sultan’s Palace belonged to the royal families of the Malay Tribe, Chinese Temple and the crocodile farm claimed to be the largest in Indonesia with more than 1000 crocodiles. Next, drive further up on a scenic trip to Berastagi, is a lovely little town in the Karo highland famous for its flowers, vegetables and fruits, most famous is the “Marquisa” passion fruit. Stay overnight at hotel in Berastagi, prepare your warm clothes as night can be quite cool. (L, D)
Day 2, BERASTAGI/ PARAPAT/ SAMOSIR ISLAND
Leaves for Samosir island on Lake Toba, is a pleasing drive across the Karo Plateau with stops en-route at Lingga Village for Karo Batak tribe way of life and their traditional houses that are well preserved, Tongging Hill from where you can view the Northern part of the beautiful Lake Toba and the Sipisopiso Waterfall, about 360 feet high. Also visiting Pematang Purba to see the long house (Ruma Bolon) belonged to the royal families of the Simalungun Batak tribe. Arrives in Parapat, cruising on Lake Toba to the central isle of Samosir where colorful Toba Batak villages cling to the shore. Overnight at Silintong hotel on Samosir Island (B, L, D)
Day 3, SAMOSIR ISLAND – LAKE TOBA TOUR
Today touring Samosir island with visits included to Ambarita Village to see the stone furniture as the remnant of the megalithic culture of the Toba Batak, Simanindo Village for the former long house of the Toba Batak King that is now functioned as museum, and your chance to enjoy watching Toba Batak folk dance performed by the villagers. If you wish to swim to enjoy the calm Lake Toba we can include visit to the tiny Tao island. Another visit is made to Tomok Village to see the ancient statues stand in a graveyard as memorial to the kings of bygone days. Next, is your chance to hunt souvenir of local arts. (B, L, D)
Day 4 SAMOSIR ISLAND/ PARAPAT/ PADANGSIDEMPUAN
Leaves Samosir island back to Parapat and then travel further to Padangsidempuan via Bukit Barisan with panoramic view and a more hospitable landscape of rice fields against backdrop of primary forest. En-route stops are made at Lumban Binanga is a typical village of Toba Batak tribe, market place in Balige, and Tarutung town in Silindung Valley for lunch. Stay overnight at Hotel in Padangsidempuan. (B, L, D)
Day 5 PADANGSIDEMPUAN / BUKITTINGGI
From Padangsidempan we head for Bukittinggi, driving on the same mountain range up to Bukittinggi where the eyes are soothed by more rice fields dotted with neat little huts and bridges by the river. Stops en-route will be at Usortolang Village to see the remnant of the Mandailing Batak typical houses, Purba Village being the centre of a huge Islamic Koranic School with hundreds of tiny huts, and Bonjol Village where a monument marking the equator. Afternoon arrive at your hotel in Bukittitingi (B, L, D)
Day 6 BUKITTINGGI
Full-day touring Bukittinggi, brings you to Batusangkar being a lively and scenic town surrounded by a majestic rice terraces where local countryside is dotted with Rumah Adat or traditional houses. Continue on to Pagaruyung Palace, Lima Kaum to see the stabbed and inscribed stone of the past king. Then travel up over the low crater wall and down to Singkarak Lake passing through the charming hilltop village of Balimbing to lead you back to Bukit Tinggi. Proceed to your hotel with another visit to Pandai Sikat; a small village famous for its woodcarving, embroidery and loom weaving. (B, L, D)
Day 7 BUKITTINGGI/ PADANG
Half-day tour in Bukittinggi before continuing travel to Padang, takes you to the picturesque Sianok Canyon, Fort de Kock as the remnants of Dutch colonial times, City museum and the colorful Pasar Atas market. Then, drive on the road that skirts the foot of Bukit Kapasan traversing a lush valley up to Embun Pagi from where you can enjoy the fascinating view of Lake Maninjau. Visit Kota Gadang for silverworks before proceeds to Padang. Drive via Anai Valley with splendid view of tropical greeneries. Have a short Padang city sightseeing before reach your hotel in Padang for overnight. (B, L, D)
Day 8 PADANG/ OUT
Breakfast at the hotel. At the appropriate time, transfer to the airport to catch the flight of onward destination. (B)
